Richard Nixon Wallpaper

Project: repeat pattern based on disgraced US president
Materials: multiprocess
Client: self-led
Agency: n/a

Having long been fascinated with Nixon and his curious affairs, his famous silhouette was used as the basis for a repeat pattern. The overall desired effect was to create a nosebleed inducing design of the type found on the floor in old man’s pubs or on the wall at your nan’s house.

The results are a visual essay on how endless reproductions of iconography, even those once highly politicised,  strips the motif of all meaning and creates a ‘wallpaper’ effect of vacuous imagery.
